Two things we learned from the announcements of Thursdays’ high school commits

1) Coach Cal’s Wildcats are in are safe hands at point guard for next year… Again:

With the nations number two point guard De’Aaron Fox committing to Kentucky, Calipari most likely got his leader of next years team and of this year’s recruiting class. Fox has good size at 6’3″ for a point guard, which explains why his strengths are being long on both sides of the ball and being extremely explosive, especially on the fast break.

2) Steve Alford is trying to bring UCLA back to their glory days:

After a trip to the sweet 16 last year, the return of Bruins Bryce Alford, Tony Parker and with the addition of freshman Prince Ali, it still could have been a rough year in Westwood, but things just got a whole lot brighter for next year. On Thursday, former Arizona commit and 5-Star TJ Leaf joined point guard Lonzo Ball as the second 5-Star to pledge to the Bruins. Leaf and Ball will be a great 1-2 punch for UCLA next year.
